How do we know this? Jump to: the conference and found the session titled "Developer Introduction to Microsoft Mesh". Based on the image you see below, it appears that Microsoft Mesh is a developer platform that targets mixed reality applications. The key to this platform appears to be the possibility of "presence and sharing experience from anywhere - on any device through mixed reality applications". Breaking this down, I interpret it to mean that Microsoft has a new development platform that is clearly not tied to any single device and allows you to create AR VR experiences for different platforms.
This could potentially allow for a India Telegram Number Data scenario where you have someone interacting with a mixed reality headset, HoloLens, iPhone, and Android device simultaneously in a mixed reality experience. If this is indeed what Microsoft will announce at Ignite in March, it will be a step towards breaking down the silos that exist with AR/VR applications today, which typically require users to all use the same underlying hardware, ie everyone has the same device. Microsoft is pushing VR/AR apps and services into every corner of its tools, even SharePoint has a VR iteration, but creating a unified platform for all endpoints is a completely different goal. If Microsoft succeeds in implementing easy-to-use tools for these types of applications, the ultimate goal will be to become the industry's preferred framework.
